Who we are
The SIU (www.science-union.org) is a non-profit organization, founded in Oxford in 2016, with a core organizational team of graduate students and post-doctoral researchers from across scientific disciplines. The SIU is committed to inspiring entrepreneurship in young scientists from diverse backgrounds through the provision of a first-of-its-kind, globally interconnected networking, communications, and training platform. The mission of the SIU is to facilitate collaboration between academia, industry, society, and government in an effort to bridge the knowledge-translation gap in science. The SIU aims to open the eyes of our audience to the pulse of ongoing scientific innovation and disrupt the traditional focus on only academic careers in graduate scientific training. Our platform is supported by four operational arms: events & networking, communications, education, and editorials. These four arms synergistically engage researchers across both the private and public sectors, sparking the critical pre-venture-stage conversations that drive scientific innovation and entrepreneurship.
