Local injection eliminates existing and prevents future cancer

Researchers at Stanford University injected two substances into cancerous tumours in mice to eliminate the injected tumour and others of the same cancer type in different parts of the body. The injection also stops cancer from spreading in the body and prevents future tumours that might arise due to genetic conditions. Read this review of the study to learn about the promising results and to understand the key concepts of immunotherapy used in this novel cancer treatment.

SIULondon: Advances in Immunotherapy- Innovations from the frontline

The new frontier of the fight against diseases such as cancer is genetic engineering of immune system cells to be better equipped to target disregulated cells. SIULondon recently hosted speakers from Cell Medica, Autolus, GSK and Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult to cover research advances in the field of immunotherapy, hurdles to bringing this treatment to the bedside and regulatory challenges.
